Criticism of Tottenham Hotspur manager Frank de Boer showed no signs of abating during the 2-2 draw with Burnley. For the second consecutive weekend, fans chanted “You’re getting sacked in the morning!” at the Dutchman, labeling his football “rubbish” throughout the match. Despite a midweek Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, de Boer’s job security remains hanging by a thread.

Cristian Romero’s last-gasp equalizer salvaged a point, but it failed to shift fan sentiment. De Boer addressed the fallout post-match: “We’ve been working hard to ensure everything moves in the right direction, and we’ll keep doing that. We need to stay calm and continue doing what we believe is correct.”
The manager also confirmed a meeting with club CEO Venkat Shan, stating they maintain regular communication. Tottenham will travel to Frankfurt for a Champions League fixture next week, having secured solid results in the competition this season.
De Boer urged fans to remain composed: “I believe supporters can recognize our performance and improvements in the first half, and we must also acknowledge the team’s willpower and fighting spirit.” However, he expressed disappointment in the team’s defensive display.
Romero’s stoppage-time goal did little to appease supporters, who argued that taking just one point against a 19th-placed Premier League side does not alter their current predicament. De Boer noted: “Dubravka being named Man of the Match says something—it means we did well in attack.”
Still, the match was widely viewed as another failure in de Boer’s Tottenham tenure. Prior to this, Spurs had lost their two post-Champions League fixtures to Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
